what is use of microblaze?

Jump to solution

Hi. I started studying this field with 7 series fpga and zynq.

When i saw some example project, a lot of them use microblaze.

I search about it and now i know Microblaze is kind of soft-microprocessor.

But I don't know the need for this clearly.  What kind of situation do i need microblaze?

@kangsungsik,

It is a processor and it does what a processor is supposed to do.

Perhaps the term soft-microprocessor is troubling you...............look into the Wikipedia definition of "Soft microprocessor".

But I don't know the need for this clearly. What kind of situation do i need microblaze?

For any type of low capacity processing you can think of.

This white paper is an excellent starting point - https://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/white_papers/wp501-microblaze.pdf.
