ZYNQ Boot Devices (QSPI+emmc)

Jump to solution

Can I boot the LINUX system with QSPI and EMMC?  In some fileds, the SD-CARD is forbidden。I must use the EMMC instead of SD-CARD.

yes it's possible. Zynq can however not boot directly from eMMC, so you need to boot FSBL + U-Boot from QSPI and from there you can load the rest of the image from eMMC.

There's some blog post about this : https://www.beyond-circuits.com/wordpress/tutorial/tutorial27/

The blog refers to a document from Avnet, but the link is broken. I found the document using google, somewhere on the xilinx forum :

Booting PicoZed using QSPI and eMMC - Xilinx Forumshttps://forums.xilinx.com/xlnx/.../PicoZed_Petalinux_2014_4_eMMC_boot_v2.0.pdf

fyi : Zynq US+ can even directly boot from eMMC
