SDAccel vs SDAccel for Alveo

Jump to solution

On the licensing page for SDAccel, there are two options, SDAccel and SDAccel for Alveo. One is much cheaper than the other. Will SDAccel for Alveo provide all the functionality of the SDAccel license, but only compile for Alveo cards?

Hello @pdiffley, you are correct, the SDAccel for Alveo license is locked for use only with the Alveo cards however it does provide the full functionality of SDAccel with these devices.

Out of curiosity, what cards does SDAccel work with that are not Alveo cards? I have looked around for some, but have not found any.

In older versions of SDAccel there is support for the KCU1500 and VCU1525 which were before Alveo cards were released.

Information on the supported cards is in the "SDx Environments Release Notes, Installation, and Licensing Guide" (UG1238): look for "Hardware requirements" or now "Supported Platforms".

Indeed, with 2018.1 and 2018.2, only VCU1525 and KCU1500 were supported.

In 2017.x, we supported also cards from Alpha Data

In 2018.3 there was a transition period were we supported both Alveo and VCU1525.

The easiest and most budget friendly option to start with SDAccel is using our cloud providers:
