Do you have to create a SDSOC platform prior to creating an application ? Or, can I target the zcu102 option for the application project without going through the process of platform creation ?

@kdavis119 If you are targetting the ZCU102 board then select the ZCU102 platform provided by Xilinx. You would see the option to select the platform right after you name your project.
If you want to target a board for which Xilinx hasn't provided a platform, you need to create the platform.

Which SDSoC version you are using?

Ok. If your evaluation board comes under the affected serial numbers. there is a chance that existing platform might not work, but I am not sure.
Did you try with the existing zcu102 platform first?

Yes, I have tried under the existing platform first. The board seems to be able to boot and execute .elfs, though we ocassionally have to do a quick power off power on cycle or the INIT_B LED will stay red. What is the behavior expected for boards that need a new FSBL ? Will they simply not boot at all ?

The behaviour was like, people who have affected boards, when they run hello world example in xilinx SDK, it did not work.
some people reported "execution context is running " error. Few said, it just didn't run.
In case of SDSoC, when they ran matrix multiplaication example, it didn't work
