Can KU3P capture multiple mipi csi cameras,merge and transmit by Aurora TX with 3m cable?

Dear Sir, 

I am planning to use KU3p to capture multiple MIPI CSI cameraes and merge them into a big pciture stream, then send this stream by Auraora tx  protocol on KU3p GTY tranceiver.it  can be named as Camera module. aurora tx may be working at 4 lanes ,5-6Gbps,totoal bus width are 20-24Gbps. 5-6Gbps may be easier  for STP or micro-coaxial cable 

And receiver also use Aurora RX to decode video stream and  re-transmit them to HOST machine by PCIE. it can be named as  Video capturing module, these two modules are connected with 3 meters STP or micro-Coaxial cable 

I have some questions :

1:  Can Aurora 8B/10B protocol  run on GTY tranceiver on KU3p?

it seems GTY use NRZ coding ,which is  for optical fiber, and not suitable for electronic  media , is it workable by STP in this senario? Optical media is not suitable for my design.

2: if not, which serial high seed protocol is better for this application(AC coupled by electronic media, not fiber media) and which xilinx FPGA series is recommended ?

    1. Can KU3P capture multiple mipi csi cameras ?
      Yes. You need to use one MIPI CSI-2 RX Subsystem to receive MIPI signal from one camera.
      Each MIPI CSI-2 RX IPs works independently, so video data output is not aligned.
      The user is responsible for aligning video-data from MIPI CSI-2 RX IP before feed these data into Aurora IP.
    2. Can Aurora 8B/10B protocol  run on GTY tranceiver on KU3p?
      Xilinx officially does not support this use case. So, could you please use Aurora 64B/66B instead ?
      Please let me know if you have a strong reason to use Aurora 8B10B IP instead?

      You need to select GTY equalization mode to fit your channel character.
      Please see also guidance mentioned in UG578 Chapter 4 (Choosing between LPM and DFE modes )

I want to use HDMI2.0 or DP1.4 redriver IC to compensate loss, is it workable?

Dear Sir!

Aurora is also based on AC-coupled transmition, I want to know:

1: can those linear redriver IC (not retimer) designed for HDMI2.0 or DP1.1/1.4 be used to rediver Aurora (GTY) transmition?  because the cable length between  RX and TX FPGA chip is about 3 meters,the internal  EQ of GTY is not enough for allsignal  lose 

2:  Can Xilinx provide some demo code on Video stream transmition by Aurora protocol?

1. I’ve seen users using redriver IC for Aurora IPs without any issue (Virtex-6, 7-series, and UltraScale).

    ( If I can remember correctly, ) DisplayPort different signal swing is 0.4V~1.2V,  so UltraScale+ GTY should be able to receive signal from DisplayPort redeliver.

    The most important thing is to ensure that Aurora RX pins have a stable serial input signal, before starting Aurora RX IP initialization.  ( Please set GTY RX insertion loss to match 

 

2. Perhaps XAPP1216 can give you a good reference application on this.

    Also, you could ask this question at Video board for more appropriate guidance.
