Xilinx primitives in Modelsim ?

What can I do if I want to run a simulation in Modelsim which uses Xilinx primitives?

I'm getting these errors:

Module 'ODDR2' is not defined.
Module 'IODELAY2' is not defined.

Re: Xilinx primitives in Modelsim ?

Hi @shairva ,

Have you compiled simulation libraries before running the simulation in Modelsim ?

what's the procedure to make a design with Xilinx primitives work in Modelsim?

Re: Xilinx primitives in Modelsim ?

Hi @shairva ,

You need to compile the libraries before using them in modelsim.

At first please make sure that you are using a compatible Modelsim Version with its corresponding Vivado version. Please go through the topic "compatible third-party tools" in UG 973 for the compatible simulator versions.

Once you have the compatible Modelsim version then,

  1. Open Vivado in GUI mode.
  2. Select Tools >Compile Simulation Libraries to open the "Compile Simulation Libraries" dialog box.
  3. Set the options you need and click the Compile button to start the compilation.

Please check page 16 of UG 900 regarding the same.

To compile the libraries in ISE, please follow the steps mentioned in the below link:

https://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/sw_manuals/xilinx14_7/pp_p_process_compile_hdl_simulation_libraries.htm

Thanks & Regards,
