VC707 BIST Synthesis Error

Jump to solution

I have installed Vivado 2013.3 and downloaded the BIST example project for the VC707. When I try to re-run the Synthesis step, I get the following error:

[Synth 8-2947] error reading binary file 'C:/Xilinx/Vivado/2013.3/scripts/rt/data/vhdl/vdbs/ieee/std_logic_misc.vdb'

This error is followed by a number of other errors related to std_logic_misc.

The file exists in the location shown above.

Also, I have uninstalled my old Vivado versions (2012.2 and 2012.3) and the Synthesis log starts with:

*** Running vivado
with args -log system_wrapper.rds -m64 -mode batch -messageDb vivado.pb -source system_wrapper.tcl

****** Vivado v2013.3 (64-bit)
**** SW Build 329390 on Wed Oct 16 18:37:02 MDT 2013
**** IP Build 192953 on Wed Oct 16 08:44:02 MDT 2013
** Copyright 1986-1999, 2001-2013 Xilinx, Inc. All Rights Reserved.

So, I feel like the tool is using the right versions.

I am using Windows 7 64-bit. I think it is probably related to my install or registry.

Thoughts?

All tar files at http://www.xilinx.com/support/download/index.htm have an associated md5sum value. Did you verify the integrity of your tar files?

If not, what you need to do is to create a small text file with the md5sum codes you on the web site with the name of the file ie:

foo.md5 contains:
551c6b7c5ebf2612e42b2ef7bba88e9d *Xilinx_Vivado_SDK_2013.3_1017_1.tar

and run md5sum program with that file as input in a directory where the tar file can be found as follows:

md5sum -c foo.md5
this will print either OK or FAILED for the file to be compared.

So, I did another uninstall/reinstall of 2013.3.  The std_logic_misc.vdb file at C:\Xilinx\Vivado\2013.3\scripts\rt\data\vhdl\vdbs\ieee has size 0.

So, is the TAR file I downloaded corrupt?

Hi,

Did you check whether std_logic_misc.vdb file has anything or its an empty file located?

If it is empty, its a install issue. you need to re-install the tool to fix it.

Otherwise, try running Vivado as administrator (Run as administrator).

Thanks

I had an MD5Sum error with my download.  The TAR file still decompressed and executed the install, but it was corrupt.  Thanks,
