Vivado corrupted .v files after crash during synthesis

Vivado crashed during a synthesis and I had to restart my computer,
The two very important files were corrupted and now only contain bad characters.

  • [HDL 9-806] Syntax error near "non-printable character with the hex value '0x0'".

Also, the old project wouldn't open and I had to create a new project and add all the old source files.
Any Ideas on how to fix?

I would add the files but the forums are giving me "The attachment's datapath.v content type (application/octet-stream) does not match its file extension and has been removed."

Hi @pseudonym,

I have sent you ezmove ftp test package, through which you can provide your files to regenerate this issue at my end.

Unfortunately, it appears that ezmove does not like my university's internet as my session expires immediately and after I navigate to a new page it asks me to login. Thus I cannot upload anything to ezmove. Furthermore, the VPN I have does allow me to navigate on ezmove but I does not let me upload files.

Also, do you only want the affected files or the whole project?

Hi @pseudonym,

Clear your browser cache and then try to upload.

And provide upto date archived project to regenerate the issue.

Hi @pseudonym,

The zip file which you have provided through ezmove yesterday, by using that i cannot able to open the project from .xpr.

To archive your project - In vivado GUI - go to files - Project - Archive.

Hi @pseudonym,

Than this is not a synthesis issue i guess as you mentioned in the first note  >>Vivado crashed during a synthesis and I had to restart my computer,

Try to create a new project from scratch in different project directory and check if it is getting corrupted or not. Also turn off the anti virus while working with Vivado.

@pseudonym

I don't think Vivado will edit the RTL files by its own, are you using any additional scripts? Also, please share the OS details also here.

Thanks
Anusheel
