The BUFMR enables multi-region chaining of BUFIOs and BUFRs ?

Jump to solution

Hi Friends,

In UG472 Mentioned that "The BUFMR enables multi-region chaining of BUFIOs and BUFRs ".

Can anyone pls explain more clearly this if possible with an example {explanation is enough code is not required}.

BUFMR's fill a 'gap' between BUFG's and single-bank BUFR.  As described in UG472:

BUFG's can span an entire chip, but there are a limited number of them and they pick up jitter as they grow. A BUFR (like a BUFIO) introduces very little jitter, but can only reach resources within a single bank. The BUFMR allows one to create a tightly timed IO interface that spans (up to 3) adjacent banks. This feature is essential for creating large IO interfaces that cannot fit into one bank.
