AXI-VDMA puts in error handler when first time start

Jump to solution

Dear All,

*I am using Axi-VDMA IP to transfer video data from an source to a memory-mapped region.

*I have problem that AXI-VDMA gives always an error when it starts to work first time. It puts error handler in first time, after this start no any error is seen.

*Due to this error I think that I am always missing the first frame.

Regards,

Hi @doner_t,

How do you see the error?

Did you use a reference design to start with the VDMA? Or did you follow the steps mentioned in the VDMA PG?

Regards,

Florent

Dear @florentw

Thank you for reply.

Start of frame is not controlled by software now. Source always send images even if we stop the VDMA channels. So when we start again VDMA channels, it is the time probably mid of the current frame and start of frame is already missed, so s2mm interupt is not generated and puts error handler first time. I think that we must synchronize the source' s start of frame with VDMA channels.

But you can still suggest any reference VDMA design with its SW solutions.

Hi @doner_t,

You can use the xapp742 as reference design. It is quite old but there is no big changes in the VDMA since this version.

Dear @florentw,

It is SOFLateErr. Probably Software starts the VDMA channel at the mid of current frame. So start of frame is already missed for current frame. I have to make a sychronization between video source sending image and vdma channel starting.

Thank you.
