About HDMI or DP 120Hz

Jump to solution

Dear Expert!!

I have one question for 120HZ Input.

-Resolution : 1920X2160, 1920X2560

-Frame Rate : 120Hz

-Protocol : DP or HDMI

Question

1) Could the DP IP can receive the 120Hz from Graphic Card??

2) Could the HDMI IP can receive the 120Hz from Graphic Card??

Thanks and regards,

Sun

Hi @watari,

Thanks for commenting. I know what I show is different from the requested resolution. But I was just showing that it is possible to do 120Hz because it has been tested for 1080p120.

So it should be ok for 1920X2160@120 or  1920X2560@120

Regards,

Florent

To determine the necessary pixel interface to support a specific resolution, it is important to know the active resolution and blanking information. You can find details here

https://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/ip_documentation/dp_tx_subsystem/v2_1/pg199-displayport-tx-subsystem.pdf

For HDMI you can find frequency range here

Hello Sun @sunkim,

As per PG236, it should be ok for HDMI to have 120Hz inputs. For example 1080p120 has been tested:

120.PNG

For Displayport, you should also be able to receive 120Hz resolution as long as you are under the DP max bandwidth.

Kind Regards,

Florent

Hi @florentw

I think that your answer is a little mistake.

Because of original requirement is different.

Hi @sunkim

Your question depends on pixel clock (dot clock), pixel depth (color depth) and pixel format (ex. YUV 422 8bit, RGB 8bit and so on).

Could you show us them, if possible ?

Thank you.

Best regards,
