HDMI Tx subsystem on user IO

We only need HDMI 1.4 specification.

 

I saw HDMI reference design, HDMI Tx subsystem connect to Video PHY.

It's 40-bit data width and valid signal. 

 

If I connect this interface to my design and using OSERDER to transmit. It's ok or need more intercing control design?

 

Could we implement HDMI Tx subsystem and using user IO not GTX?

You may also want to look at XAPP495.  It is technically only supported on Spartan-6 devices, but I've seen it be ported to other devices.  For example the PYNQ board from Digilent implements pretty much the same requirements you listed.  It might work as a reference for you as well.

It depends on your requirement.

Would you fulfill the following items ?

 

- Pixel Clock frequency (MHz)
- Target maximum resolution (ex 1920x1080)
- Video format (ex. RGB888, YUV422 and so on)
- Color depth (ex. 8bit, 10bit and so on)
- HDCP (ex. require or not require)

it's HDMI 1.4 compatible.

 

PCLK 148.5MHz,  1080p resolution, 8-bit depth, No HDCP.

Hi @sychi2014,

 

No you cannot use the Xilinx HDMI IP without targeting GTs.

 

If you want a HDMI solution on user IOs, you can look for an external chip solution like a ADV7511. Most Xilinx evaluation boards have one, you can have examples on Xilinx and Analog Devices websites.

Digilent Inc. and Trenz Electronic release HDMI Tx IP for demo.

I guess it is NOT for commercial.

Would you refer them, if necessary ?
