Ultrascale+ interlaced video output via DisplayPort

Jump to solution

Is interlaced video output supported by Petalinux 2018 running on the Ultrascale+?

The Xilinx DisplayPort TX subsystem v2.1 spec mentions a control register MAIN_STREAM_INTERLACED but it seems to be unused in the Xilinx-linux DRM kernel driver for display port.

Hi @jc_csdl

As you might know, Xilinx has 2 different solutions for Displayport TX:

  • The Displayport controller (hard IP) integrated in the Zynq Ultrascale +. This has linux drivers but only supports progressive video as per the UG1085
  • The Displayport TX subsystem. This IP can do interlaced if native interface is used. However, has you find out, this IP does not have any linux drivers.

So no, there is no Xilinx Displayport solution inder linux which can support interlaced content

Hi @jc_csdl

I'm not sure. But you might be able to generate a specific interlace signal (PsF mode) to add some extra logics on linux ...

Would you consider it ?
