HDMI Link quality on SDK Terminal using v_hdmi_rx_ss example design

Jump to solution

Target : Zynq Ultrascale+

Vivado project : Example Design for HDMI 1.4/2.0 Receiver Subsystem v3.1

SDK project : Application project HDMI RX only on A53

On the SDK terminal is reported information on the HDMI RX link when I press letter "i":

---------------------
--- MAIN MENU ---
---------------------
i - Info
=> Shows information about the HDMI RX stream, HDMI TX stream,
GT transceivers and PLL settings.
p - Toggle HPD
=> Toggles the HPD of HDMI RX.
z - GT & HDMI TX/RX log
=> Shows log information for GT & HDMI TX/RX.

HDMI RX SubSystem

->HDMI RX Subsystem Cores
: HDMI RX
HDMI RX version : 03.00 (0402)

HDMI RX Mode - HDMI
------------

[...]

Link quality
---------
Link quality channel 0 : good (148)
Link quality channel 1 : good (147)
Link quality channel 2 : good (147)

[...]

I know that the numbers (148), (147) and (147) are the "Link Error Counter" on each channel.

My question is :

What represent the three numbers ?

Is this the number of data communication errors on the link which have been detected with CRC ?

Is this the number of errors in the protocole ?

There is no informatiuon about it on the Driver API Documentation

Hi @erems,

The HDMI protocol does not correct these errors. Any value here other than 0 should be evaluated closely.

These are likely due to a board(si), cable(bad) or source issue.

Hi @erems

HDMI has three TMDS signals and one clock signal.

There is the result of errror count which is related with character error detection and condition about three TMDS signals.

Best regards,

Thank you watari for your answer

This means that the 3 error counters count the number of detected error on the 3 TMDS signals.
Is there a mechanism in the hdmi protocole to correct these detected errors or do they involve pixel errors ?
