PG231, Page 9, resource utilization

Hi,

In page 9 of PG231 October 5, 2016, under the Table 2‐1: Video Processing Subsystem Resource Utilization, the count of LUT FF pair given is less than LUT count or FF count. As per my understanding, the count of LUT FF pair is LUT + FF - fully utilized LUT FF pair. If my understanding is right, the LUT FF pair count should be more than the maximum of LUT or FF count.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Re: PG231, Page 9, resource utilization

Hi @shajinm,

Since 2016.1 (I think):

LUT-FF Pairs -> Count only Fully used LUT-FF pairs

LUT-FF Pairs with one unused LUT output -> described as FF in the PG

LUT-FF Pairs with one unused FF output -> described as LUT in the PG

Thus the values are not related. You will see the same if you do report_utilization in vivado (BTW, I advice you do use vivado directly to have a better estimation of the ressources for the VPSS for your configuration + vivado version. It will be more accurate).

Kind Regards,

Florent

Re: PG231, Page 9, resource utilization

Does that mean, the total count of LUT FF pair used is LUT count + FF Count - LUT FF pair?

Hi @shajinm,

I can't remember the full computation but this is not obvious. You should get the value directly from vivado.
