VPSS_Deinterlacer Outputframe rate

Jump to solution

Hi

Am using VPSS based deinterlacer (currently without motion based disabled) to deinterlace an NTSC input 962x383 @ 60fps. I get the output as 962x766 but at 30fps. Is it not supposed to be at 60 fps? The standalone deinterlacer is known to give deinterlaced data at the same rate at as input.

I see that VPSS generates line data, line valid and tlast in alternate fields but it skips giving tuser out every alternate field. A simulation snapshot is attached for the same. In the snapshot signals under the label VPSS correspond to deinterlacer. One can see that s_axis_tuser comes every 16.66ms while m_axis_tuser comes at every 33.33ms.

Is this behaviour expected or am I missing anything in config? Why is that VPSS generating data but not tuser?

Thanks and Regards,

Ajay Kumar G

Hi @ajaykumargurrala,

The first thing to mention is that the VPSS does not support this simulation. The second thing is that he requires specific steps to run

Did you saw this behavior on HW using the VPSS example design?

Hello @ajaykumargurrala,

TUSER signal indicates the start of frame signal. It indicates the start of first frame of Pixel.

Please refer following snippet from UG934 for more understanding:

SOF.JPG

This should explain the behavior you are observing with TUSER.

TUSER will not be active for whole TDATA PULSE.

Thank you.

Hi @kvasantr,

My question was why it is not generated for every frame in the output!

Is it not supposed to generate a tuser for every frame that it has given as output ?

Right now, it's generating everything else normally except tuser. I could not see the tuser pulse completely for every second frame that is given out.

Thanks and Regards,
Ajay Kumar
