How to create timeline_trace.csv for Vitis Analyzer?

Hi, I've ZCU104 platform with Vitis 2020.1 on CentOS 7.7.

Now, I already can compile & run on platform "vector addition example" through Vitis IDE.

I referred Visualizing Results and Analyzing Reports and realized the timeline_trace.cs is created by xrt.ini.

Although the xrt.ini File Document describes that the xrt.ini is created automatically, I don't find that anywhere(I don't know what configuration I need to set...).

xrt ini2.jpg

Therefore, I followed xrt.ini File_Document to create xrt.ini manually in host executable(I guess it's in the same directory with "vitis" exe file, is it right?) & set the content.

xrt ini.jpg

And then execute Vitis IDE -> build "Hardware".

However, I still cannot find timeline_trace.csv anywhere...

I guess maybe I put the xrt.ini into wrong path or miss something.

Any help will be highly appreciated!

If you are running in the Vitis IDE, it will create the xrt.ini as needed depending on your runtime selections:

Dear Randyh:

Thanks for your reply, it give me a good direction!

I think "Run Configuration" is what I need, but I'm not sure where is the path which described in the tutorial.

run config web.jpg

Therefore, I open it from the below path:

select run config.jpg

Create a "New Configuration" & set "Yes" for timeline trace:

run config.jpg

After "Apply", click "Run".

However, it showed fail, and the timeline_trace.csv did not be created...

run fail.jpg

PS. Tested it on "Emulation-SW" & "Emulation-HW", but the result is not different.

Do I miss something? Thanks a lot!
