SDAccel Linux driver installation

Jump to solution

Hi,

I am following the tutorial UG1021 (v2015.1), and I was able to correctly run make and install the base platform programming.

However, when I tried to install linux driver I got the following:

[lvs@mymachine kernel]$ make
make -C /lib/modules/4.3.0-1.vanilla.mainline.knurd.1.fc22.x86_64/build M=/home/wimi/lvs/SDAccel_examples/getting_started/alpha_data/board_compilation_solution/pkg/pcie/runtime/platforms/xilinx_adm-pcie-7v3_1ddr_2_0/driver/driver/xdma/kernel modules
make[1]: *** /lib/modules/4.3.0-1.vanilla.mainline.knurd.1.fc22.x86_64/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
Makefile:21: recipe for target 'all' failed
make: *** [all] Error 2
[lvs@mymachine kernel]$

I checked the kernel directory, and as you can see it is not a directory but a link to a file.

Checking that link  ("ls /usr/src/kernels/"), it seems to be empty.

[lvs@mymachine kernel]$ ls /lib/modules/4.3.0-1.vanilla.mainline.knurd.1.fc22.x86_64/build -asl
4 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 61 Nov 3 08:16 /lib/modules/4.3.0-1.vanilla.mainline.knurd.1.fc22.x86_64/build -> /usr/src/kernels/4.3.0-1.vanilla.mainline.knurd.1.fc22.x86_64
[lvs@mymachine kernel]$ ls /usr/src/kernels/
[lvs@mymachine kernel]$

I am running fedora 22 and the kernel files are in /boot with names vmlinuz-*.

Could you help me please to install the driver?

Hi,

I found the solution. All needed was to install the kernel-header and kernel-devel packages.

Now the directories mentioned, are not empty anymore.
