Vitis 2019.2 Vector addition error: FATAL ERROR : child process did not launch and [XRT] WARNING: Profiling may contain incomplete information. Please ensure all OpenCL objects are released.

Hello,

I am trying to run a vector addition example on the Trenz TE0808-04-9BE21 starter kit. I'm using Vivado, Vitis, and Petalinux 2019.2 and I have to stick on these versions, unfortunately :(.

When I try to run SW emulation and profiling, the u-boot run and Petalinux boots, but I am getting the following errors during the vector addition launch:
"

I created my platform in Vivado and I tested in on the starter kit but the simulation doesn't work.
Does anyone have an idea what could be a problem?

Hi @danijela, are you using an Ubuntu system? It may be related to a debugger issue in this OS, discussed here.

Could you let us know what specific version of Ubuntu is being used, and how you are setting up tools (are you using settings64.sh for Vitis and setup.sh for XRT)? Do you have any examples that work, or does any design give the same error?

Hello,

Yes, I run:

Vivado/2019.2/settings64.sh
Vitis/2019.2/settings64.sh
xilinx/xrt/setup.sh
echo 0 | sudo tee /proc/sys/kernel/yama/ptrace_scope
export SWT_GTK3=0.

I found the solution. The problem was in the "data" folder.

The "data" folder from "vector_add/Emulation-SW/_vimage/emulation/sd_card/data" was not mounted in my /mnt folder.

After the Petalinux boots, if I copy "data " from the SD card in the/mnt folder the vector addition executes correctly.

I did this:

cp -r /run/media/mmcblk0p1/data /mnt

cd /mnt/

export XILINX_VITIS=$PWD

export XCL_EMULATION_MODE=sw_emu

export XILINX_XRT=/usr

./vector_add.exe binary_container_1.xclbin

and it worked.

Regards,
Danijela
