EMC2-Z7030 SBC puts Zynq SoC on a stackable PCIe/104 module, bundles SDSoC Development Environment for $1695

Sundance Multiprocessor Technology Ltd has just announced the Zynq-based EMC2-Z7030 to its industrial line of stackable, PCIe/104-compatible SBCs (single-board computers). From the model number, you can tell that the SBC is based on a Xilinx Zynq Z-7030 SoC. Sundance has also integrated this board with the Xilinx SDSoC Development Environment, which Sundance says “…has a full, system-optimizing C/C++ compiler that allows system and software engineers to take full advantage of the speed increase offered by running processing intensive algorithms on the Programmable Logic (PL) of the Zynq Z-7030. The new development flow offers a familiar software development environment using an Eclipse-based GUI, programming in C/C++ and debugging from the ARM-A9 CPUs, called the Processing System (PS). SDSoC offers profiling, estimation and hardware/software event traces to help developers optimize the system performance while seamlessly generating the full Zynq SoC system with hardware accelerated IPs, data motion network and software BSPs.”

 

In addition, says Sundance, “…SDSoC offers the benefit of being able to gain performance by seamlessly moving algorithms into FPGA fabric from C/C++ applications, a game-changer for programmable embedded systems. Not only will the SDSoC environment significantly shorten the time-to-market for Zynq designs, it also opens the door to a new class of users who have been in traditional SoC domains developing primarily in software.” (I just love it when they write my blogs for me.)

Sundance Multiprocessor Technology’s Zynq-based EMC2-Z7030 PCIe/104-compatible SBC

 

 

The photo clearly shows that the Sundance EMC2-Z7030 SBC uses a Trenz Electronic TE0715-30 SOM as the Zynq-based processing subsystem, which is a very slick way to get a Zynq SoC system up and running quickly. Sundance has designed a carrier card for the SOM and this design approach allows Sundance to focus on its areas of expertise: the high-performance embedded processing market, industrial I/O, and the PCIe/104 OneBank standard that allows easy stacking of multiple boards based on board-to-board communications over high-speed PCIe Gen2.
