KC705 dimensions

We are designing a board that will be a non-FMC-standard size to plug into J22, the HPC connector. Next to J22 is an SPF connector with what looks like a shield.

What is the height of that shield above the board?

Hello @barryvjpl ,

This shield or what we call cage/assembly that accepts SFP or SFP+ modules. Within this case, there is Molex connector:

Within this above pdf, you can read that this is used with 73927 SFP cage:

(which i believe is now obsolete and replaced by https://www.molex.com/pdm_docs/ps/PS-74737-0010-001.pdf)

Checking the drawing of this case, this shows that the height is just less than 10mm:

I don't have KC705, but i do have KCU105 available at home, and indeed, the height is just less than 10 mm (well, to me it is 10mm, based on my ruler)

Hi Vatsalt,

Unfortunately, I cannot measure the height of that shield in the 3D view using the Cadence viewer; maybe you need a licensed version of Cadence (which I don't have) for that function to work. Is there another way to get that dimension?

Thanks. So I understand that 9.7mm dimension of the shield, but what's that thing sticking up on the left end of the shield? It looks like it extends below the PCB and well above the shield.

This is just a removable bracket that can help users to secure the board in the machine's "chasse" (if you know what i mean), the same what you'd do with any PCIe related card installation in a desktop, e.g. (below is just an example of another board, however this is the same and is removable (if/when needed)):
