ML507 normal temperature of the FPGA when working

I am newer for FPGA ,I found the temperature of the chip got about 90℃,when i ran the demos in the CF card,is it normal ,or something wrong

What kind of FPGA is that ?

How do you measure the temperature : is it core or package ? 

 

90℃ core is too high. Normally the FPGA core temperature should be something like 45-70℃. 

85℃ is the "worst case" upper value used in static timing analysis. So anything above that is not guaranteed to work.

In Virtex5 you can read the core temperature from the integrated SystemMonitor.
