Problem booting from Quad SPI on ZedBoard

Jump to solution

Hi,

My goal is to flash the Quad SPI on the ZedBoard with a simple application project (Hello World). I am using Xilinx SDK 2015.2 to do this.

I am following the 4th point “Programming the ZedBoard using Quad SPI” in the tutorial linked here.

The problem is that the blue ready LED will not light on and my program will not run.

I created a “Hello World” and a “Zynq FSBL” application project in the SDK. Image attached below. I then clicked on “Xilinx Tools” > “Create Zynq Boot Image” > “Create Image”. This created the BOOT.bin file. Image attached below. I then clicked on “Xilinx Tools” > “Program Flash” > “Program” Image attached below.

Note: I know the program works when the board is programmed through the J-TAG. “hello world” is displayed in the PuTTY terminal. I also made sure the jumpers were in the correct position.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On the zedboard the blue LED is the DONE signal.  You do not have a PL image, so DONE will not be valid.

You should be seeing output on your terminal from your boot.bin.   Enable enhanced debug messages by adding #define FSBL_DEBUG_INFO to fsbl_debug.h.   That should give you some debug clues.
