Aurora 64b/66b Slave does not lock, no channel/lane up

Jump to solution

Hi all,

I'm having issues with my design, which uses several auroras (Vivado 2019.1, Device/Package XKCU115-flvf-1924-3-e, GTH transceivers) :

- Aurora 64b/66b, 4 lanes, shared logic in core

- Aurora 64b/66b, 4 lanes, shared logic in core

- Aurora 64b/66b, 1 lanes, shared logic in core (MASTER, line-rate: 10 gbps, DFE enabled)

- Aurora 64b/66b, 1 lanes, shared logic in example design (external to core, SLAVE, line-rate: 10 gbps, DFE enabled)

My issue is that all my Aurora cores have channel_up, lane_up asserted except for the slave. I have GT debug signals in my IP cores, and have confirmed that my Line Eq matches what works in IBERT.

The slave aurora is using quad 228. I can use the same lane (X1Y18) in IBERT and can confirm good connection with low BER. So I have reason to believe my Pre/PostCursor and Diff Swing voltage are correct, as they work in IBERT. I think perhaps IBERT internally does not have a Master Slave dependency - i.e an acceptable line rate for IBERT might not be acceptable for Aurora Master/Slave

Are there any special considerations that need to be considered when using Aurora in Master Slave configuration? Other threads I have looked at ( mainly this one: https://forums.xilinx.com/t5/Ethernet/Mutilple-Aurora-64b-66b-problem/m-p/901924#M14512 ) suggest that line rate can affect ability to lock/PMA reset on the slave. Is 10.00 Gbps too much for a slave configuration?

I have read the 64b/66b LogiCORE IP product guide for Aurora, and also the GTH user guide.

Could I explore LPM as an option? Might this help? As always, thank you for your time
